Only in art will the lion lie down with the lamb, and the rose grow without thorn.

Martin Amis
About This Quote

In a relationship, what some people consider a “lamb” is someone who is gentle and meek. The opposite of a “lion.” To be a lamb is to be a lamb. To be a lion is to be a lion. In other words, there’s nothing wrong with being gentle or meek or even docile.

There’s everything wrong with being weak or timid or spineless. In the same way that you don’t want a lion to lie down with a lamb, you don’t want someone who is weak and timid to become your partner. You don’t want a rose to grow without thorns.
